All Keys Lost? We Make New Car Keys On-Site

All keys lost means there's no working key to start the car. Either you lost every key, or your only key has stopped working. It's more involved than programming a spare. When we copy a spare from a working key, that existing key lets us communicate with the car's computer to get everything we need. With no working key, we can't do that, so we go through the full all-keys-lost process: unlock the door, retrieve the key code from the door lock with a special tool, cut and generate the correct key for your specific car, then program it to the immobilizer. Each car is different. The key shape, cut depths, and chip that fit a Toyota won't fit a Honda.

We finish all-keys-lost jobs on the spot for a reason: a lost key is a theft risk. If someone found your key, they could be waiting for the right moment to take the car. So on every all-keys-lost job, we disable all the keys that aren't present, erasing the lost keys from the car's system so they can never start it again. One note on some makes: with Nissan and Infiniti, every key for the vehicle has to be present at the programming point, or it gets erased from the system. If you later find a lost key, we reprogram all keys together.

Maserati Levante, all keys lost. A customer lost every key to his Maserati Levante. The dealership wanted $1,800 for two keys, a tow to their location, and a three-day wait. We came to him, picked the door open cleanly with special tools, decoded the door lock, cut the emergency key inside the remote, and programmed it. Two new keys, car started, lost keys disabled, all in 20 minutes of labor. He paid less than half the dealer's price.

Nissan Maxima, all keys lost. A customer lost his keys to a Nissan Maxima. We unlocked the car, cut the emergency key, and programmed the remote to the push-to-start system, and it went smoothly. The next day he called: he'd found the lost key, but it no longer started the car. That's because we'd disabled it. With Nissan, all keys must be present at programming or they're erased from the system. We went back and reprogrammed all keys together, including the one he found.

A spare key is a must. If you only have one key, it's far cheaper and faster to make a spare now than to go through all-keys-lost later.
