A bagel shop’s storefront door was scraping the floor and the threshold. The top pivot hinge was completely worn, so the door had dropped. We checked the frame and tried to adjust the pivots first, but they were too far gone, so we replaced both pivot hinges with a YKK storefront pivot set and the door swings clean again.
A bagel shop in Hallandale Beach had a front door that was dragging on the floor. You could hear it scrape the threshold every time a customer came in. On a storefront door like theirs, the door does not hang on side hinges, it turns on pivots at the top and bottom, and when a pivot wears the door drops and starts catching.
We looked at it in order. First we checked the frame, because sometimes a door drags because the frame has shifted, not the hinge. The frame was fine. Then we tried to adjust the pivots, since a pivot with life left can often be brought back into alignment without replacing anything. But these were too worn. The top pivot especially was shot, and there was no adjustment left in it to hold the door up.
So we replaced both pivot hinges with a YKK storefront pivot set matched to the door. With fresh pivots top and bottom, the door came back up off the floor and swings clean again, no scrape, no drag.
We repair and replace pivot hinges and storefront doors across Hallandale Beach and Broward. See our door hinge repair page or call (954) 371-5674.
